Sargent Road Farmhouse is a Central Indiana nonprofit built around hands-on learning and community education. Since 2019, the property has grown through active garden work, hydroponic growing, bee management, and local projects that continue to develop over time. Visitors can take part in work happening across the property, whether they are here for a day or involved over a longer season. The farmhouse also hosts internships and fellowships with colleges and universities, supported by structured curriculum tied to plant science, biology, land-based systems, and community program management. The farmhouse remains open for short-term stays through Airbnb and Vrbo, giving families, students, and other visitors a place to stay while spending time in Indianapolis.

Internships, Federal Work-Study placements, and field requirements can be shaped around a student’s area of study. Students work under the guidance of experienced educators and former college faculty, with projects designed to support meaningful field experience within their specialty. The property includes hydroponic growing systems, active gardens, established bee colonies, habitat areas, and space for community programming. These give students room to work on projects that have continuity and purpose beyond a single visit.
The farmhouse also stays connected to local use. Community members can use farm carts at no cost for small sales, and the property is available for day-use events that serve the people around it.
Built in the 1800s, and renovated to feel modern while holding its history, Sargent Road Farmhouse still feels tied to the land around it. The home has changed with each chapter of the property while keeping much of its original character and sense of place.
